XP SP2: Turn On/Off or Change Sound in Pop-Up Blocker

 

The pop-up blocker makes a cute little sound when a pop-up is blocked. Here's how to configure that sound .

XP Service Pack 2 includes a pop-up blocker. When a window is blocked, a sound is made to let the user know. This sound can be turned on, turned off or changed.



Turn the sound on/off:

    1. Open an IE window

    2. Click Tools

    3. Select Pop-up Blocker

    4. Selct Pop-Up Blocker Settings

    5. Unclick or click Play sound When Pop-Up is Blocked

    6. Click Close


Change the Pop-Up Sound:

    1. Open the Control Panel

    2. Click Sounds and Audio Devices

    3. Click Sounds tab

    4. Under Program Events scroll down to Windows Explorer

    5. Click Blocked Pop-Up Window

    6. Select a sound from the drop down box or browse for a new sound

    7. Click Ok
