How to market your blog and keep your readers

Many blog publishers seem to subscribe to the view of the "If you build it, they will come" mentality which unfortunately isn't the case in 99% of blogs. Some people write blogs to air their own opinions, some write about a particular passion and some write as a job or about their business. So how do you get people to your blog and keep them there? Make your blog search engine friendly

How to make sure your blog is set up for search engine spiders - it'll improve the user experience too!As I've researched this article I've realised how guilty I have personally been of some of the points that follow so I've taken some of my own advice and it's amazing how much better the site is performing in searches just with a few minor changes (such as linking titles through and avoiding "click here" links). So here are a few of my tips for making your blog search engine friendly and not only that, they'll help your visitors experience as well. 1. Avoid the use of nested tables. Unlike a human, spiders navigate round your site via the code if you have table within table, within table this is a lot of extra code that the spider has to cut through in order to actually get to your content. The old version of my site (http://www.katywhitton.com/blogold) used nested tables for layout which looks nice but is a nightmare for the spider to parse. The newest version of the site (http://www... Read More

Palm: Free AIM Clients and Options

Many people on the web do not believe that you can do AIM on your palm system for free. I have found free options that most people do not know about.I recently received a palm TX from work. Typically I have not liked any handhelds in the past, but the wifi on this one has me sold. So many free wifi hotspots exist now that this has become a very useful and cheap way to communicate. I started searching for AIM clients and was shocked that nobody had found any free options. Well, I have found three. If you have others to add to the list, please drop a comment below. Free Palm AIM clients: 1. Aol.co.uk - Although the US web site sells the palm AIM client, you can download the uk AIM client for free. It's in english and works great! 2. Toccer - This free client is probably the most well known free client. Many people have noted a bunch of lock-ups with it. Development continues and is very active. 3.
