Use your Sidekick to Admin your Shoutcast Server
This is a recipe for a true geek with a sidekick.
Ok. I run my own shoutcast server so i can listen to my music from anywhere. But i didn't want to setup a webpage to control my winamp/shoutcast server due to security and i would prob need to learn some php. This recipe explains how to use your sidekick as a remote to control winamp/shoutcast server remotely; not a real guide but more of conceptual outline.
How to use your sidekick to admin your shoutcast server.
by seamonkey420
This recipe is more of a hotdish so to say.
First things are first.
We will need these prerequisites:
1. You own a sidekick/hiptop
2. You are/have the developers kit and dev key
3. You have a shoutcast server running and use winamp
I'm a music junkie and want it anywhere, thus why i setup my own shoutcast server, streamed mp3s on any computer with wnamp or media player.
However, i was limited to setting up the playlist the previous nite in the order i wanted. I had tried using a few plugins for winamp that had ... Read More
Sidekick: How to fix a bad developers key upload
This a recipe that i just came up with since i had to use it (for some reason my IMEI changed two days ago and i had to do this). Again, this requires the dev kit installed and the usb cable. Requirements:
Sidekick
USB Cable
Dev. Kit w/htconsole
null dev key : http://developer.danger.com/downloads/null-device-key.sq
If you ever get a message on your sidekick like, "Locked Developer Key" or "Invalid Key" or something to that extent and you can't use your phone at all. You might need to flash the null dev key to the device to revert it back to normal. I would then suggest to check to see if the IMEI in the sidekick is the same as on the sidekick (mine just changed for some reason last week).
To flash the null key, do the following:
Attach the usb cable to your pc and to your sidekick
Open Htconsole in the htconsole folder in the dev kit
Once opened, go to Commands > Flash System and choose the null key you downloaded and let it finish uploading and reboot.
Hopefully your sidekick loads u... Read More

Speed up Sidekick web browsing
Web browsing too slow on your sidekick? Here are a couple of tips.First, if a site has a "palm" or "handheld" version, these will generally load much faster and look better.
The Sidekick will also let you "Go To" a URL, then while that is accessing and loading, click the jump button and use another app. The Sidekick will inform you when the page is loaded, click the jump button and choose "Web Browser" to see the page.
While in the web browser, click the menu button, choose settings. Here you can set your home page and an alert when a page has finished loading. I recommend using one that just blinks the wheel.
If you're really bent on speed, you can disable images from these settings as well.... Read More
